What do we mean by Transition?
There are hundreds of Transition initiatives in the UK and other countries. They are linked together by Transition Network whose mission is to support "community-led responses to climate change and shrinking supplies of cheap energy, building resilience and happiness."
To quote from Transition Network's Transition Primer :-
"The transition initiatives currently in progress in the UK , UK and Ireland and beyond represent the most promising way of engaging people and communities to take the far-reaching actions that are required to mitigate the effects of Peak Oil and Climate Change. Furthermore, these relocalisation efforts are designed to result in a life that is more fulfilling, more socially connected and more equitable."
If you would like to know more about Transition initiatives, a good starting point is the Transition Network website where there is a large collection of links for further exploration, including Transition Primer .
Some outstanding examples of Transition initiatives are:-
